// //

(d. 207 b.c.e.) A minister to the First Emperor of the Ch’in dynasty in China. When the emperor died of an illness, the eunuch official Chao Kao forged an edict putting the emperor’s youngest son on the throne. He brought about the death of the emperor’s eldest son, as well as that of many generals and high ministers and, eventually, the second emperor. In this way he manipulated power and attempted to control the throne but was finally killed by the third ruler, the First Emperor’s grandson.
