Bodhidharma rencontre l’empereur

L’empereur Wu de la dynastie Liang demanda au grand maître (Bodhidharma) :

  • Quel est l’enseignement primordial de la Sainte Voie ?

  • Le ciel vide, rien de sacré[1], lui répondit Bodhidharma.

Alors l’Empereur lui demanda :

  • Qui se tient devant moi ?

  • Je ne sais pas.

L’Empereur resta estomaqué. Par la suite, Bodhidharma se rendit au Nord, jusqu’au temple de Shaolin et s’assit face au mur pendant 9 ans.
