(561–632) T’ien-t’ai’s disciple and successor. He recorded T’ien-t’ai’s lectures and later compiled them as The Profound Meaning of the Lotus Sutra, The Words and Phrases of the Lotus Sutra, and Great Concentration and Insight. His own works include The Annotations on the Nirvana Sutra and The Profound Meaning of the Nirvana Sutra.
