Alors qu’ils étaient assis, le laïc Pang demanda à [sa fille] Lingzhao : « Un ancien maître a dit : « Claires et évidentes les cent herbes ; claire et évidente l'intention du patriarche [Bodhidharma]. Comment le comprends-tu ? »
Lingzhao répondit : « Comment un homme mûr peut-il poser une telle questions ? »
Pang dit : « Comment le dirais-tu ? »
Lingzhao dit : « Claires et évidentes les cent herbes ; claire et évidente l'intention du patriarche. »
Pang se mit à rire.
